How to change the font size used by my browser

To change the font used by your web browser for web pages that do not have a specified text font, use the appropriate instructions below. (The instructions may also work for browser versions other than the ones specified.)

Windows

Internet Explorer 7 and 8

  1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options... .
  2. Under the General tab, click Fonts... .
  3. In the window that opens, you may choose the web page font or the plain text font (used where fixed-width fonts are specified). In the drop-down box next to "Language script:", you can change the character set for which you are selecting the font.

Firefox for Windows

  1. From the Tools menu, select Options... .
  2. At the top of the window that appears, click Content.
  3. Under "Fonts & Colors", select the default font and size from the drop-down menus. For more options, click Advanced... .

Chrome

  1. In the upper right, click the Tools icon, and then select Options.
  1. From the Under the Hood tab, scroll down to the "Web Content" area, and then click Change font and language settings.
  2. Change font and language settings as desired, click OK, and then click Close.

Mac OS X

Safari

  1. From the Safari menu, select Preferences... .
  2. Click Appearance. To change the font for "Standard font:" or "Fixed-width font:", click the appropriate Select... button. To change the default encoding, next to "Default Encoding:", use the drop-down menu.

Firefox for Macintosh

  1. From the Firefox menu, select Preferences... .
  2. At the top of the window that opens, click Content.
  3. Under "Fonts & Colors", select the default font and size from the pull-down menus. For more options, click Advanced... .
